Episode 4: Demons and Sidecars

Welcome to the fourth episode of the Social Knitworking podcast!

In this episode, recorded in Jenn’s basement with a coffee table full of alcohol, we drink many beverages of an adult nature, we contemplate hymens of different mammals, Connie calls in to discuss her evening without us (our fault!), Andrea recaps 5 seasons of Supernatural for Jenn and Joanna, we sing along to late ’80s and early ’90s hip-hop, and… oh yeah, we talk about our knitting projects and what we’ve been working on over the past month. With or without alcohol involved.

If you’ve got any comments or questions for the podcast, call our feedback line! The number again is 215.839.6373 (215.839.NERD), or use the handy little Google Voice widget we’ve installed on the blog.

New patterns, free for you!

I would like to apologize for the rush of posts today, especially with all the new patterns! I’ve been meaning to move my original patterns from my personal website to this blog for… oh, about a year now. However, my personal blog was hacked, and I’m shutting it down for the time being. This leads me to finally do the thing I’ve meant to do for so many months!

So a few good things do come out of this: you, dear reader, get to see a bunch of quick and cute patterns that you may not have seen before, as they were hiding on my site; and I get to cross this to-do off my list, so I can make sure the latest podcast upload doesn’t fail (again!) tonight.

It’s a win-win!

What’s a bumper?

While recording our August podcast, Jenn asked a very important question: what’s a bumper?

Even though this clip didn’t make it into the official podcast, we thought it would be educational to post it here in the Extras section.

And if you are thinking of recording a bumper for our podcast, you should also be aware of the contest we’re running! It’s open until we fill all five available spots.

Drunken Bacon Podcast Brunch

When Z. at Hipster, Please! announced that September would be Drunken Podcasting Month, we at Social Knitworking immediately cancelled our original monthly theme and heartily accepted his challenge. Then we heard that September 5th is International Bacon Day and… well, the next part was just too obvious!

Make your way down to National Mechanics and join the ladies of Social Knitworking this coming Saturday (9/5/09) at 11am as we taste our way through several brunch beverage options, including Make-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar featuring the National Mechanics signature bacon vodka.

Post your RSVP in the comment section, or head over to the official Facebook event page.

A Very Special Interview with Terrycloth Green

On Friday, 14 August 2009, my friend Jonathan and I found ourselves at Otto’s Shrunken Head for tiki drinks and a very intense rock show of awesome featuring Uncle Monsterface and Ruffian Arms.

So. Much. Epic.

However, the epic didn’t end when the music stopped! Outside on the streets of New York City, I cornered Terrycloth Green and demanded an interview for our podcast, the audio of which can be heard on Episode 1: Nerdy Knitting.

But behold! Posted below is the full video version of Andrea’s interview with superstar internet celebrity sock puppet of greatness Terrycloth Green: Social Knitworking hits hard with the tough questions; TCG does not talk about girls’ butts; Andrea makes out with a sock puppet.
