About
The history of socialknitworking is a brief and brilliant one. We were innocently sitting in Rittenhouse Square, participating in Knit in Public Day (even though we have the audacity to KIP most day) when a gentleman on a bicycle rode by and yelled out to us “SOCIAL KNITWORKING!”
We looked at each other—that’s pretty fucking brilliant—and from that moment on our tweets had #socialknitworking attached to them, and then other people started using it… Who would have thought?
Fast forward a few months and we’re KIPing again, laughing hysterically at coniferous and carnivorous trees, practicing “Teacher Voice” and realizing that even though we’re often delusional, we’ve also quite frequently caught people laughing along with us when they thought we didn’t know they were listening and the idea for a podcast was born.
Why not share our awesome with the rest of the knitting world? Why should we KIP quietly and demurely and we can do it out loud and inappropriately? Social knitworking is about realizing the common thread (yarn) between us all—and making sure that everyone can see it.
Besides, we don’t want to live up to the drunk guy and just be a drain on society and a waste of space!
